Our Story
How MTRVR came to be.
We couldn’t find the gear we wanted to sit in.
So we made it.
It didn’t start with a business plan.
It started with a problem.
Most outdoor chairs felt like a compromise.
Light, but unstable.
Comfortable, but bulky.
Easy to carry, but not something you wanted to trust.
We were tired of choosing between portability and stability —
between something you bring, and something you actually enjoy sitting in.
Where it began
In 2004, we began working out of California.
Not to build a brand — just to build something better.
Early versions didn’t work the way we hoped.
Some folded too easily.
Some didn’t travel well.
Some felt solid, but didn’t last.
We kept refining.
Not by adding more, but by removing what didn’t matter.
Until the chair stopped calling attention to itself —
and simply worked.

Designed to disappear
When something is done right, you don’t notice it.
You don’t notice the structure when you sit down.
You notice that it doesn’t shift.
It doesn’t sink.
It doesn’t ask you to adjust.
That’s intentional.
We design for balance —
between comfort and support,
between strength and portability,
between something you pack away and something you rely on.
Built through use
MTRVR products aren’t designed in isolation.
They’re used — repeatedly, in real conditions.
Mornings by the lake.
Evenings that last longer than planned.
Quick stops that turn into long conversations.
Scratches happen.
So do stories.
And that’s exactly how they’re meant to be.
Materials, without the noise
Materials matter — but only if they disappear in use.
Reinforced aluminum.
Durable fabrics.
Simple structures built for repeated opening, folding, and sitting.
Nothing added for show.
Nothing kept if it didn’t earn its place.
Not made for showrooms
MTRVR isn’t made for displays or explanations.
It’s made for living outside.
For early coffee beside your vehicle.
For dinner around a small table.
For staying a little longer because the seat still feels right.
It’s not about the chair.
It’s about not thinking about it at all.
What we believe
Good outdoor gear shouldn’t ask for attention.
It should quietly do its job — again and again.
If you end up staying longer,
sitting a little more comfortably,
and worrying a little less about your gear —
we’ve done our job.
